What is Leisure & Tourism?
Leisure & Tourism is a mixture of practical and theory based work about the travel industry.
What will you do on the course?
The course is divided up into two unit which you are required to study:
Unit 1 - Leisure and Tourism in a chosen area (Greenwich Borough)
This unit will cover: * Leisure and Tourism industry * Leisure and Tourism facilities * How organisations meet the needs of people * Employment opportunities * Tourism provision |
Unit 2 - Leisure and Tourism Destinations
This unit will cover: * Why people travel * Types of transport * Tourism Destinations and the appeal of them |
This course will offer you the chance to actively study the Leisure and Tourism industries. You will carry out case studies to gain a better knowledge and understanding of how Leisure & Tourism can impact society and your local area. You will explore Health and Safety issues surrounding Leisure & Tourism and you will work towards gaining your St. Johns Young First Aiders Award. You will investigate the environmental impacts and sustainability. You will also gain an insight into diverse cultures and attitudes.
How will you be assessed?
60% of the marks are awarded through controlled assessments.
40% of the mark is awarded through an exam at the end of the course.
This course is worth 1 GCSE grade.
